Weekend, Eye Update, and Thanks...

Hi guys.  Tripp is doing fantastic.  The contact has been such a blessing so far.  From the second they put it in he has been like a brand new baby.  If we had a dollar for every smile we got this weekend, we would be rich.  Randy wanted to go play softball this Saturday in Lafayette because he has been having withdrawals, so we went to stay at my parents house for the weekend.  And we went to go see my grandpa, who passed away on Saturday around noon.

My grandpa was my heart.  He was such a wonderful person and true man of God.  I learned so much from my grandpa and I looked up to him so much.  He will truly be missed by so many, but I know that he is up in heaven visiting with his parents and his brothers and sisters.  And we made sure we told him to have a nice talk to God about Tripp when he gets up there.  I know he is so happy and he's dancing around in his new body... just like my other grandpa.  The services will be this Wednesday night and Thursday.  Here are some pictures we took about 2 weeks before he passed.  I am SO glad we have them.

Paw Paw, we love and miss you so so much.

We go back to the eye doctor tomorrow so they can check to see if the contact is helping the eye to heal at all.  I am going to tell them that I do NOT want them to take it out yet.  If anything, they can just go ahead and put one in the other eye to prevent anything.  I have tried to put several things on his arms to keep his arms away from his eyes, but he's like the Incredible Hulk, he can break through anything.  I've tried braces on the inside and out and tried the swimming pool "noodles."  Both he still got to his eyes.  I just don't want to wrap too tight and I don't have the heart to tie down his arms after everything he's gone through already.  But he really has been doing better about rubbing them... I guess they aren't bothering him as much anymore.  He has been SUCH a good boy.  Back to his normal self (knock on wood).  And now I appreciate his eyes and his vision and his personality SO much more than I did before.  Each little thing that happens teaches me to appreciate him so much more.  God, I love this baby.
We got so many squinchy smiles this weekend!!!  See?

Big Boy!!

Tripp's new nurse, Kristi.

Tripp playing Pat-a-cake!  Watch him "roll 'em up!"

So when I got home from my parent's house last night, I had a surprise on my doorstep from Heather Boisclair... one of my fabulous blog readers.  It was a huge basket of goodies... chocolate, cookies, peanuts, crackers, gum, a "shake weight" and all kinds of stuff.  AND then there was another bag with a present for Tripp- a Handy Manny "pillow book," which I have never seen before (SO cute) and a whole box of stuff for me (shampoo, hair clips, face wipes, fingernail polish).  Isn't that so sweet.  I think her mom is from New Orleans and close to us, so her mom delivered it instead of her having to ship everything!  So sorry we weren't home!  That doesn't happen often!  It totally made my week!  That was so so thoughtful.  Thanks Heather!  Visit her blog here and see her gorgeous baby boy, who is Tripp's age!  Here's our goodies.

Love,

  2. Yay!!!! So, so happy to read that first sentence. I kind of hold my breath when I come to your blog, hoping for great news. So thankful right along with you that things are looking up. Praying that it will continue and you guys can get out (even if it's just a walk around the block or in the yard) and enjoy the weather before it gets too hot... already dreading that thought here. Love you. Give him a big kiss for me and a "waddup" nod from Jonah. Hugs.

  7. YAY!!!! I'm so glad the contact is working for him!!! We didn't actually place a prophylactic contact because we were worried about potential for infection, but it's worth asking about.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandfather. What a difficult time for you. Just know that he is up there watching over your family and sending you lots of love!

  9. Courtney! Your PawPaw was such a wonderful man and loved his family oh so much!I know he will be missed greatly by each and everyone of you. He used to come up to the Wellness gym at North Oaks and he would do nothing but talk about how proud he was of each and everyone of you. (And rightfully so...he should be! :))I know he is up there doing his best that Tripp doesn't have to endure anything more than he already does. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family! I miss yall and will miss your PawPaw's cute little smile and wonderful personality!

Its good to hear that Tripp's eyes are doing better, but then again he is a strong little fella and it doesn't suprise me that he can get through this too! He amazes me more and more everyday that I read you and Randy's blog. You have such a wonderful, beautiful little family and I wish yall the best!!

    Lots-o-LOVE!

It's great to hear that Tripp is doing so much better. That "squinchy smile" just totally melted my heart... you must kiss him all day long. Please give him one from us all the way from Florida!

  12. What a relief! I'm so happy to hear that the contact is still working wonders. I check in all the time and am always preying for Tripp! (And for you.) I am Jonah's great aunt (great-aunt?) (no, I truly AM a great aunt) and am really pulling for the Roths and the Williams all the time!

  13. Courtney,

I've been reading your blog since I first saw Patrice mention it on hers. My daughter was born the same day Tripp was, so I have a special place in my heart for this baby I've never even met. :) I can't imaging what you, your husband, and sweet Tripp go through on a daily basis (and thank God I don'HAVE to know), and just want you to know I am so impressed by your strength. I'm sure it can be overwhelming at times, but Tripp is lucky to have parents like you, and I know you're just as blessed to have your little man. Just want you to know that there's someone up in Minnesota praying for your little guy, and wishing him many happy, healthy years!

    Love from MN,
    Rebecca

  14. Courtney,

I have never commented, but I have been reading for a while now.

I have been praying for your precious little man, and his mommy and daddy for some time now. I often think of you as I nurse my little one at night, and I never think of you without praying. I have been specifically praying for God to heal his nose, I don't know exactly why, but that's what the Spirit is leading me to do.

I will not let a day go by without petitioning Yahweh on Tripp's behalf.

I can see His strength working through you. He will hold you up, Courtney.

    Much love and admiration,
    Kim

He looks like he feels 100% better!!! My heart just broke with the pictures from last week. He just "looked" like he didn't feel well. Now he looks like a different little guy. So sorry about the loss of your Grandpa, so glad you got to visit with him before he went.

  21. Courtney ~ I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I'm glad you were able to be with him. I'm also thankful Tripp's eyes are so much better. Glory to God! I know you have quite a bit still going on with your grandpa's funeral. When things settle down, give me a quick ring or text me and we'll figure out a good time for us to have a quick visit.
Thinking about you and your entire family!
